WHY MC WEST?
Mission Critical West's clients are our best advertisement (click for references). We make this promise to our customer base: The fastest response, highest performance work, and competitive pricing, or we will not accept the project. We have built our reputation on performance. We routinely outbid and outperform larger, multi-discipline A&E firms on targeted power quality and critical infrastructure project work. Unlike larger firms, we don't send in the "A" team to sell the project, then replace them with the "B" team to do the work. With MC West, you always get the "A" team, headed up by Dennis P. DeCoster, one of the world's leading critical facilities infrastructure experts and UPS authorities. For a no-obligation estimate of your specific project needs, write us at email@example.com

MC West principals are true experts in state-of-the-art technology for critical facilities electrical infrastructure. We have either been retained by, or have been directly employed by the industry leaders in high availability power technology. These firms include the top tier holders in UPS (uninterruptible power supply) & CPS (Continuous Power Systems), STS (static transfer switches), Flywheels (low and high speed), and Batteries (including nickel & lithium technologies). Our principals have assisted in the design, testing and beta roll-out of many of these products which, today, have forever changed the landscape of the industry. A delicate balancing act exists between emerging technology and risk mitigation in a 7 x 24 environment. The decision process is made even more difficult for many clients by what seems like by unrelenting marketing, particularly with the introduction of countless "Green" products. Many power quality consultants can draft one-line diagrams. Few are truly equipped to make expert recommendations on state-of-the-art power technologies based upon real world experience.

MC West principals rely on strong credentials in project management, facilities management, site engineering, construction management, and technical writing, as well as marketing & general corporate management. To facilitate successful project completion, M C West offers licensed Professional Engineering (PE) services and holds a CA B License for TurnKey installation services (CA 793994). Principals at MCW have very successfully held such key technical & operations titles as Principal Site Engineer, Plant Manager, Manager of Technical Services, Director of Plant Services, V P General Manager and Responsible Managing Officer (RMO). Most design engineers do not get to see what actually happened to their design years later. Uniquely, our principals have not only held responsibility for 7 x 24 equipment design, engineering, manufacture, marketing, sales, installation and commissioning/testing, but also the long term maintenance, emergency service response and data management of that same equipment as well. This has given us an unparalleled edge in an unforgiving industry. This experience has paid dividends in live Data Center project work, where we have successfully completed expansion and renovation projects for well over a hundred Tier III and Tier IV facilities.
The managing principal and founder of Mission Critical West Incorporated is Dennis P. DeCoster. He received his undergraduate training at Rutgers University with graduate training in engineering, marketing and law from Princeton, Rutgers and Seton Hall Universities. Mr. DeCoster has over 25 years experience in the data center facilities infrastructure industry. He has directly managed or been responsible for specifying, installing and/or commissioning UPS systems, CPS systems, Standby Generators, STS, ATS, Flywheels, Lead Acid, Nickel, Lithium Battery systems, Precision Cooling/CRACs, Switchgear, PDUs, Racks Power, Container Systems, TVSS & lightning suppression, BMS/ NMS Monitoring & Management Systems, Fire Suppression Systems, Access Flooring Systems, 48V DC Systems, and other critical facilities infrastructure. He was Senior VP and GM of a CA-based UPS Engineering, Sales & Service firm for over 12 years in addition to being their RMO (Responsible Managing Officer.) Here, Mr. DeCoster evaluated and brought on new critical facilities infrastructure equipment lines, founded their “TurnKey” installation & commissioning division, and managed the sales, application engineering, scripting, installation and commissioning of all data center infrastructure projects. Clients included VISA, Intel, Los Angeles County, SBC-Pac Bell, FAA, and over 100 Fortune 500 firms.
Mr. DeCoster currently serves as MC West’s Executive Principal as well as its primary consultant/project manager for significant projects. In recent years, he has been lead consultant for major reliability and availability assessment studies for Los Angeles County, and several public corporations, been retained as lead design consultant for major private and municipal Data Center UPS expansions. He has served on Design- Build bid evaluation teams for firms involved in major data center expansions, and leads the company’s commissioning effort. Mr. DeCoster has acted both as Owner’s Representative for commissioning overview/management of critical facilities done by other commissioning agencies, as well as taking the role of directly commissioning facilities themselves. MC West has commissioned eight (8) such facilities in the last year alone. Mr. DeCoster has also served as Construction Project Manager for large Tier II- IV data centers and/or Design-Build projects under other national A&E firms. All projects were completed successfully. One example is a three part Multi-MW UPS and DC bank addition to (client confidential)’s main Tier IV US Data Center (9 MVA total UPS) through SYSKA HENNESSEY GROUP, a major Design-Build Engineering firm. This project was unique in that it involved roll-up flywheel UPS systems for immediate capacity relief as well as a “first-of-its-kind” above slab steel reinforcing of an existing live 9 MW battery room supporting 9000 kVA of UPS power. Mr. DeCoster has successfully managed some 150 such projects to date, either under his own license, or working for others. He is currently involved with a (client confidential) satellite services provider designing and commissioning high criticality gateway sites in the North American continent.
Mr. DeCoster has a 20 year background in multi-discipline mission critical project management encompassing all areas of engineering, planning, technical writing, installation and 7 x 24 service management. He has authored a wide variety of articles for IEEE, Power Industry magazines, PQ & Battery Conferences, DataCenterDynamics and other forums (see Resources). Mr. DeCoster also has substantial experience in corporate strategic planning and general management, and is frequently consulted by Wall Street analysts for future trends within the power quality field.
